Blog Excitement

Wow, it's been a good past week in the ol' blog. Jake, Keri's brother (not the infamous Thundercock), posted a couple of comments. Then I see that Brent "I ONLY shoot 3's" Wegner posted as well. Man, I haven't spoken to Brent in 3 years. He's married now for crying out loud!!! That's just plain scary. Finally, to top it all off, Joe writes a heartfelt Hallmark posting concerning our departures from New England. Well, I appreciate it all and just wanted to give a couple shout-outs.

However, there is one thing in particular that I wanted to let everybody know about this past week and that is Keri's remarkable score on the math section of the GRE. For any of you who don't know, the GRE is the standardized test that is generally required for grad school. Basically, it's the SAT for grad school. Well, Keri got a 700 on the math!!! That is friggin' awesome!!! She definitely is surprised, since she doesn't consider herself that skilled in math, but I'm extremely proud of her and wanted to let everyone know.

Well, it's Thursday afternoon, let's get boozing...

Move Date (FINALLY!!!)

After a long wait, the date has been set. November 24, 2005. Thanksgiving Day.

The word is that I have to stay in Boston and work at this office until this date. I will most likely stay here for Thanksgiving and then I will head out a day or two later to begin my journey cross-country. It should be interesting. I will (hopefully) be documenting my entire trip on the blog with pictures. I can't wait to see everyone along the way, as well as Keri at the end. It's been far too long! Well, my "Good Will Hunting"-esque trip shall begin in about 5 weeks.

"I have to go see about a girl..."

Quelling the fire that is Karl

Karl commented on the previous post about why I don't write about Thursday nights. Well, generally, my Thursday night is not much to talk about. It consists of heading over to Karl's bachelor pad at about 7:30pm and drinking beers, talking fantasy, and watching Smallville or The OC. We don't really watch these shows because they are good. They're not. We watch them because it gives us something to constantly critique and pick apart (like Mystery Science Theatre 3000, if any of you have ever seen it).

Anyway, last night, brought up an interesting, yet very superficial, discussion. It started off with a comment about how every frickin' person on those WB shows (Smallville) are attractive. This is typical of TV, but the WB seems to be the extreme. So, anyway, we got talking about our favorite girls in entertainment. I went with Halle Berry, as always. Karl, Marc, and Joe all had other girls and ripped on my taste for Halle Berry. Karl even went ahead to claim that she was a bitch! Hell, I've never even met the woman, I thought we were just talking about straight-up physical attractiveness. At this point, we proceeded to discuss our choices and head to Grand Slam (local bar/pizza joint). Over our pizza and Miller Lite, I introduced a new piece to the puzzle. Question: Which movie/TV character (the actual character, not the actress, i.e. Amanda Beckett in Can't Hardly Wait, not Jennifer Love Hewitt) would you most want to hook-up/be with? It's a surprisingly difficult question to answer. You have to take into account various issues that are not usually part of this discussion when concerning movies, such as personality, vulnerability, intelligence, etc. I mean, I don't think you're going to want to pick just some beautiful woman. You're going to want to be this person's knight in shining armor, her savior from the evils that are men. You have the topic, now get commenting. I want to hear some good characters and why. I have yet to decide mine, but I liked Marc's choice of Cameron Diaz in Something About Mary.

Slow and slower...

Damn, it's been a while since my last post!!! I'm just plain ridiculous. There's really no other way around it. Not much has been going on, though. The biggest highlight was Trav coming up to Boston. His whole crew from his study abroad program in Copenhagen all get together each year to just hang out and booze. This year, it was Boston, so I figured I'd crash it. Anyway, that was a pretty good time. Basically, we spent the whole night at Ned Devine's and I proceeded to throw down a couple G&T's. Ouch!!! Never a good choice (with the next day in mind), but I get sick of beer. What other choice do I really have? That's about the only boozing I've done in a while. I know you all must be disappointed, but we're not college kids anymore (med school and law school don't count, Jake, Nick, and Nark) . . . we can't just bounce out of bed and start boozing again.

Well, other than that, work has really sucked. Every project I've had seems to be changing constantly. It is the most inefficient process ever. And then, you add commuting. Oh, commuting!!! I think everyone who commutes over 45 minutes everyday should be shot! Seriously! Could there be anything more stupid than spending the equivalent of 3 entire weeks in a car each year? I don't think so. I can't wait until I don't have to do it anymore. I think it stresses me out, because recently I have been experiencing stress at work and as you all know I don't really get long term stressed out. Yes, I get pissed off, but that's usually pretty short lived. Stress is more of a long term thing and I'm not a huge fan of it. The fact that Keri isn't around is definitely adding to it as well. Man, I gotta get out of here. I'm really excited to move and the trip itself should be a great time because I have so many stops to make. First, Nark the Spiggety Spark. Then, Mom. Then, Madtown. Ohhhhh, shiiiiittt!!! That's gonna be sweet! Speaking of sweet, how 'bout them Badgers against Minnesota?!?! They should've played better, but what a sweet ending to a long game. It's doesn't get much better than that (well, except the Michigan game). I'm out on a good note. Showmanship. . .

Last Friday, Joe and I decided to go to Jillian's in Manchester to watch the first game of the Yankees-Red Sox series to end the season. We found a huge table open and figured it needed to be filled. Karl was dialed immediately only to sound a little reluctant to come down. Luckily, earlier Joe had convinced him that he was his father. Leverage. I mean, what kid is not going to listen to their dad when he says, "come down to the bar and drink some beers, son?!" I know I wouldn't be able to resist. However, as you can see in the picture, there is another soul there to witness the Red Sox win the first game in the series. Now I know you might not recognize him, but that is Kirk Tilton. Yes, THE Kirk Tilton. He has become quite a recluse in the past couple of years, but not for naught. Kirk has had some jobs recently with terrible hours, but as of recently he has been fully enveloped in his new "start-up". Kirk and his girlfriend, Laura, are in the vintage T-shirt (and other clothes) business and are very hard at work getting their website up and running. It was nice to see him for a bit, but he'll be busy for a while so don't expect to see the sights of this anytime soon. I will be sure to attach a link to his website on my blog so all can see the outcome of his efforts (and hopefully, buy some of his products). Well, I gotta run to dinner now. Posts will be aplenty soon. We all miss you here in blog world, Jake, so get commenting!!!

As Keri's face indicates here, getting dominated on the golf course is never fun. Just ask my dad. He knows all to well. (And yes, Bryan Clark, I feel the same way when I play with your punk ass, Mr. Perfect Swing!!!)

"Hello" says Keri. "Baaaaack off!!! I'm eating" replies the sheep.

"Well, then. May I join you?"

Just a bunch of little piggies getting ready to eat some delicious BBQ at the Yankee Smokehouse restaurant. I definitely look "piggier" than Keri.

Keri hanging out on a rock in the mighty Saco River. I just hope the rapids don't pull her in!!!

Keri and I in front of Boston Harbor at Columbus Park.

Here's a pretty picture of Keri when she first arrived in Boston to visit lonely old me. Isn't she bee-u-tee-ful?! Posted by Picasa
