Quelling the fire that is Karl

Karl commented on the previous post about why I don't write about Thursday nights. Well, generally, my Thursday night is not much to talk about. It consists of heading over to Karl's bachelor pad at about 7:30pm and drinking beers, talking fantasy, and watching Smallville or The OC. We don't really watch these shows because they are good. They're not. We watch them because it gives us something to constantly critique and pick apart (like Mystery Science Theatre 3000, if any of you have ever seen it).

Anyway, last night, brought up an interesting, yet very superficial, discussion. It started off with a comment about how every frickin' person on those WB shows (Smallville) are attractive. This is typical of TV, but the WB seems to be the extreme. So, anyway, we got talking about our favorite girls in entertainment. I went with Halle Berry, as always. Karl, Marc, and Joe all had other girls and ripped on my taste for Halle Berry. Karl even went ahead to claim that she was a bitch! Hell, I've never even met the woman, I thought we were just talking about straight-up physical attractiveness. At this point, we proceeded to discuss our choices and head to Grand Slam (local bar/pizza joint). Over our pizza and Miller Lite, I introduced a new piece to the puzzle. Question: Which movie/TV character (the actual character, not the actress, i.e. Amanda Beckett in Can't Hardly Wait, not Jennifer Love Hewitt) would you most want to hook-up/be with? It's a surprisingly difficult question to answer. You have to take into account various issues that are not usually part of this discussion when concerning movies, such as personality, vulnerability, intelligence, etc. I mean, I don't think you're going to want to pick just some beautiful woman. You're going to want to be this person's knight in shining armor, her savior from the evils that are men. You have the topic, now get commenting. I want to hear some good characters and why. I have yet to decide mine, but I liked Marc's choice of Cameron Diaz in Something About Mary.

Well, yeah. That's a given. We were trying to limit ourselves to the entertainment industry. You know those lowly types around your neck of the woods, Jake. All I have to say, is thankfully I don't have to live there with the likes of Halle Berry and Jennifer Aniston.

I totally forgot about Katie!!! That would definitely be a good pick. Brent long time, no talk. I called Willis a couple of weeks ago asking about you. So you're married now?! Damn, man, that's some crazy shit! We're not that old...are we? I hope to hear from you again. Also, I'll be in Madison late Nov/early Dec. We should get together for a beer and catch up. Let me know.

Wrong Jake, Nick! Jake's (aka Thundercock) sister is in porn, so I definitely should count her in spite of the fact that I've never met her. Justin's mom might be up there as well.
